Ten years from now, AI-Generated content will outweigh authentic works from human creators
A thought process on the downtrend of human creativity in digital world and the lack of authentic materials for AI-Engines

My teenage version, a dreamer like I am today, had a strong obsession with fantasy art. You would often find me at midnight scrolling through some community forums such as Deviant Art and enjoying artworks from artists, those I knew only by nicknames. Vibrant imagination brought me many ideas and inspiration although I was not a creator myself or had any wisdom to become one. Turning ideas into artworks, however, requires the mastering of essential creative skills and toolsets which involve a substantial amount of practice and training over a long period of time.

Today, in the age of AI with scientific breakthroughs of generative models and their applications (DALL-E, Midjourney), the visual interpretation of your most lunatic idea can be completed within a few seconds. “A cat riding a motorcycle” you may think. Prompting this one-line text into DALL-E will trigger the AI engine to render an alluring, unique and lovely illustration that didn’t exist on the internet before.

Midjourney Community Showcase is a place where you can find illustrations generated by Midjourney, another AI engine similar to DALL-E. I have to admit that these works are absolutely stunning and they remind me of the old days spending time surfing DeviantArt. Ironically, knowing that these images are AI-generated makes me sentimental with mixed emotions, sometimes confusion, and the feeling that they are soulless, or to an extent, mechanical.
